Birthplace: Brazil

Researcher at the CEDRO Group at Sirius, the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), part of the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM). Currently focused on the development and application of synchrotron-based techniques especially Synchrotron Radiation Circular Dichroism (SRCD) to investigate the nanobiointerface, with an emphasis on nanomaterials for biomedical applications. He holds a PhD in Biotechnoscience (2021) from the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), where he also earned a Masters degree in Biotechnoscience and Bachelor's degrees in Science and Technology, Chemistry, and Chemistry Education. His doctoral research focused on the development of biodegradable and stimuli-responsive polymeric nanocarriers (e.g., pH-sensitive) for the controlled release of nucleic acids and chemotherapeutic drugs. He conducted part of his PhD research abroad at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry (Prague, Czech Republic) and Ludwig-Maximilians University (Munich, Germany).Since 2021, he has worked at CNPEM investigating the formation of protein corona on silica nanoparticles and its implications for colloidal stability, cellular uptake, and immune responses. In 2022, he joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) as a postdoctoral researcher, developing quantum dot-doped silica nanoparticles for bioimaging and exploring their interactions with the immune system. He has extensive experience with physicochemical characterization techniques (HPLC, mass spectrometry, NMR, DLS/ELS, ITC, circular dichroism, AFM, SEM, TEM, and Cryo-TEM), as well as molecular and cell biology assays (flow cytometry, RT-PCR, cytotoxicity and hemolysis assays, fluorescence microscopy). He also has broad expertise in sample preparation and synchrotron techniques, including IR microspectroscopy, SAXS, and circular dichroism. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
