Berenice Kussumoto de Alcântara da Silva

She holds a degree in Forestry Engineering from E.S.A. Luiz de Queiroz - University of São Paulo (2003-2007). She earned a Master's in Science in the area of Genetics and Plant Breeding from the same institution (2008-2010). She completed her PhD in Science through the International Program in Plant Cellular and Molecular Biology at USP and Ohio State University - OSU (2010-2014). She conducted her postdoctoral research at ESALQ/USP, receiving a scholarship from CNPq in the area of plant physiology and biochemistry (2015-2016). Currently, she is an associate professor at level C3 at the Federal University of Acre (UFAC) in the areas of plant anatomy and biotechnology. Her research lines encompass anatomical studies of native Amazonian plants, applied botany, micropropagation, phytochemistry, lignocellulosic products, phytoremediation, and plant stress biochemistry. Additionally, she has experience in DNA molecular markers in plants (microsatellites), transcriptomics, and proteomics. She is a full member of the Forest Engineering course committee and a full member of the Structuring Teaching Nucleus (NDE). She has worked on various extension projects that include activities promoting the use of native Amazonian bamboo. She has also been involved in extension projects with local producers (Bujari-Acre). She was honored as a professor by the students of the Forest Engineering course in the years 2022 and 2025. She served as coordinator of the Graduate Program in Science, Innovation, and Technology for the Amazon (PPG-CITA) from 2023 to 2025. Currently, she is the vice-coordinator of PPG-CITA.
