PhD in Social History from the University of São Paulo, with a academic internship at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín, Argentina (2023), and at the Universitä Hamburg, Germany (2022). The subject of his research is the history of Latin American public sculpture and the artistic bronze casting market in Latin America, especially in Brazil and Argentina, between the 19th and 20th centuries. Rafael Scarelli is currently carrying out a post-doctoral project entitled "From clay to bronze, from sculptor to foundryman: the emergence, consolidation and decline of artistic casting in Brazil (1850-1950)", based at the Museu Paulista of the University of São Paulo, supported by FAPESP. He also holds a Master's degree in History from the University of São Paulo (2019), with a research internship at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Lima, Peru) in 2018.
