Dr. Faria became fascinated by biochemistry and cancer research since her studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Campinas, Brazil. She did her Masters and Ph.D. in Biochemistry, at the same university, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine at the Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands. Since then, Dr. Faria had been investigating cancer cell metabolism and signaling transduction, and during her Ph.D., she also had been investigating hematogenous dissemination in colorectal cancer, and protein tyrosine phosphatases focusing on the roles in platelet-cancer cell interaction.
