Vítor Sudbrack is a PhD student in Theoretical Evolutionary Ecology at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, working with Prof. Charles Mullon. He has a Master degree in Physics at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at UNESP, as well as a Bachelor degree in Physics by Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), receiving Academic Honors. He was a member of the MTC (Computational and Theoretical Models Group) of the Physics Institute of that University, working with Biological Physics. He also worked with turbulence in the Laboratory of Fluid Dynamics of the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)

This project proposes to study the effects of spatial heterogeneities on the dynamics of populations. The focus is on highly fragmented areas, like the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. We intend to use numerical methods to solve reaction-diffusion equations e analyze how patterns of persistence, coexistence and exclusion are affected by the spatial arrangement of fragments. (AU)
This project will study the spatial patterns of population distribution emergent from the properties of habitat distribution in highly fragmented landscapes.
