Reydson Alcides de Lima Souza

Dentist graduated from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) (20132018), where he worked as a volunteer and scholarship student in the Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBIC/UFPE/CNPq), developing projects in the fields of Psychology, Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, Oral Medicine, and Oral Pathology. He earned his Masters degree (20182020) and Ph.D. (20202024) in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology from the Piracicaba Dental School (FOP), University of Campinas (UNICAMP).During his graduate studies, he conducted research on the morphological and molecular aspects of head and neck neoplasms, with a special focus on salivary gland tumors. He was involved in molecular pathology laboratory activities in the Department of Pathology at the School of Medical Sciences, UNICAMP (FCM/UNICAMP), and supported teaching activities in the following medical school courses: MD141 Scientific Practice, MD433 Introduction to Pathology, MD544 Integrated Pathophysiology I, and MD644 Integrated Pathophysiology II (20182024). He also contributed to the graduate-level courses in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology at FOP/UNICAMP: ES101 General Pathology I and ES102 General Pathology II (20232024).He founded and coordinated the Molecular Pathology Study Group (Liga de Patologia Molecular) at FCM-UNICAMP (20182022) and was involved in the oral diagnostic service at the OROCENTRO clinic of FOP/UNICAMP (2022). He undertook a research internship abroad as a visiting researcher, funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (BEPE/FAPESP), at Charles University, Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen (Czech Republic), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alena Skálová (2023). Additionally, he participated in the routine Oral and Maxillofacial Histopathology service at FOP/UNICAMP (2024).Currently, he serves as a Researcher Assistant at the Huntsman Cancer Institute Biorepository and Molecular Pathology (BMP), University of Utah (USA), working in molecular pathology applied to translational cancer research.He has experience in the fields of Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Molecular Pathology, and Diagnostic Pathology, with emphasis on head and neck tumors. His main interests include salivary gland tumors, diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, tumor metabolic reprogramming, rare cancers, and tumor microenvironment studies.
