Birthplace: Brazil

I am a substitute professor at the Federal University of Maranhão (Center for Human Sciences / Department of Geosciences) and part of the teaching staff of the National Program for the Training of Basic Education Teachers (PARFOR-Maranhão). I hold a Ph.D. (2024) in Geography from the University of Campinas (Unicamp-Fapesp), the same institution where I earned my M.A. (2017), B.A. (2014), and teaching certification (2013) in Geography. My doctoral dissertation was awarded the 2025 Unicamp Prize for Best Dissertation in the Humanities and Arts. During my Ph.D., I was a Visiting Scholar at the City University of New York Graduate Center, in the Center for Place, Culture and Politics (20222023, BEPE-Fapesp), and at the University of Cape Town, at the African Centre for Cities (2024, Fapesp). During my master's degree (CAPES fellow), I conducted a technical visit to the Observatori de l'Alimentació (ODELA), at the Universitat de Barcelona (2016). As an undergraduate, I completed an academic internship at Université Paris Diderot Paris VII, in the Institut de Géographie, Histoire, Sciences de la Société (2012). Between 2018 and 2022, I participated in the Amazon Academic Cooperation Project (PROCAD Unicamp-UEMA-UFPA), during which I carried out various teaching and research activities at the State University of Maranhão (UEMA). I also taught in basic education in public schools in the state of São Paulo (20092019) and, in higher education, I served as a lecturer in the UEMA Teacher Training Program (Programa Ensinar) in 2021. Currently, my main research interests are in Economic, Political, and Urban Geography, with an emphasis on the theory of the two circuits of the urban economy, the geography of abolition, hunger, and food justice movements in the metropolises of peripheral countries. I am co-author of the book Hunger and Food Assistance During the Pandemic (Editora Paulus, 2022). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
