Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Faculdade de Ciências Médicas (FCM)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Portugal

She holds a degree in Nutritional Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences (2010) and a Master's degree in Medicine and Molecular Oncology from the Faculty of Medicine (2014), both from the University of Porto, Portugal, and a PhD in Sciences from the Faculty of Medical Sciences (2021) at the University of Campinas (FCM-UNICAMP), São Paulo, Brazil. Between 2023 and 2024, she conducted a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Biology of UNICAMP (IB-UNICAMP), developing research within the projects "Influence of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) during the gestational phase on the predisposition of offspring to Clostridioides difficile infection in adulthood" and "Effect of an inulin-rich diet on intestinal inflammatory process" (projects co-financed by FUNCAMP under the WU-21-333 consortium, supported by the NIDDK/NIH Award Number R01DK126969).Since 2025, she has been undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship at FCM-UNICAMP, conducting research on Central and peripheral actions of GLP-1, GIP and glucagon on the subclinical inflammatory process: immunometabolic contributions, linked to the INCT project 2014/50907-5 and affiliated with the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), Brazil. Her expertise lies in nutritional biochemistry, metabolism, medicine and molecular oncology, and the neuroendocrine field, with technical skills in animal experimentation, cell culture, biological samples, and clinical trials. Her work to date has focused on the effects of bioactive compounds on Metabolic Syndrome, the influence of environmental pollutants on metabolic complications, tumor cell development and progression, the relationship between the gut microbiota and both Metabolic Syndrome and Inflammatory Bowel Disease, glucose/energy metabolism, and the metabolic and behavioral phenotype characterization following deletion of CLK2 (Cdc2-like kinase) in GABAergic neurons. She became a full member of the Portuguese Order of Nutritionists (ON) in 2012 and has been on suspended status as a full member since 2025 due to exclusive affiliation with FAPESP.She is the author and co-author of several scientific publications, available on Lattes Curriculum / PubMed / Google Scholar (Sónia Norberto; Norberto S).
