Post doctoral Scholar(1981-83) in Iowa State University (Ames, Iowa, USA). Since 1996 is Full Professor with USP/ESALQ/Department of Genetics. Has experience in Agronomy, acting on the following subjects: Genetics and Plant Breeding, Quantitative Genetics, Plant Genetic Resources (Germplasm), mainly in self-pollinated species with emphasis in soybean (Glycine max). The cost-efficiency for soybean production in Brazil has been challenged since the first occurrence of Asian Soybean Rust disease (ASR) in 2002 and billions of dollars are currently spent in its control.
