PhD candidate in History and Japanese Studies at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies since 2024. Holds a Bachelors degree and a teaching licentiate in History from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP, 2021), where he conducted undergraduate research with support from FAPESP (2020), focusing on source-based analysis and local history. Completed a Masters degree at the same university (2025) and at the Masters Program in History and Japanese Studies at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (2024), during which he incorporated Digital Humanities methodologies and data visualization techniques. Subsequently, he undertook a research fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory, integrating Legal History as a complementary methodological approach. Building on this experience, his research has explored issues related to casuistry and the circulation of knowledge through moral-theological manuals produced in Japan. His current research examines the development of normative arguments and conversion practices involving the use of force and coercion in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Japan.
