Birthplace: Brazil

I am Prof. Dr. David Mendes and throughout my career, I have specialized in the fields of Meteorology and Geosciences. My academic journey began with a degree in Meteorology from the Federal University of Pará back in 1998. Next, I earned a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Physics from the University of Lisbon in 2006. I also completed a post-doctorate at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). My area of interest is Applied Meteorology, where I have dedicated myself to exploring topics such as climate change, climate modeling, dynamic meteorology, thermodynamics, climate, extratropical cyclones, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). Currently, I hold various positions at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). I am a professor in the Graduate Program in Climatic Sciences (PPGCC) and in the Department of Atmospheric and Climatic Sciences (DCAC). Additionally, I coordinate the Research Group on Modeling Complex Systems at UFRN and lead the Advanced Climate Studies Laboratory at the same institution. I was a visiting professor in the training course for future meteorologists at the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics of Angola between January and February 2024.
