Agricultural Engineer (2015) and M.Sc. (2017) in Agronomy with a focus on soils from the Federal University of Mato Grosso, and Ph.D. (2023) in Soils and Plant Nutrition from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP), with a sandwich Ph.D. period at North Carolina State University (USA) (2021-2022). He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at ESALQ/USP and was a visiting researcher at the University of Reading (United Kingdom), in collaboration with the Diamond Light Source (2024-2025), establishing an international network in advanced environmental characterization techniques. He is an associated researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology in Biotechnologies for the Mining Sector (2025-2030), a member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) Latin America, and part of the scientific coordination team of the Territory and Climate Monitoring System, working on environmental monitoring and remediation strategies for mining-impacted areas, particularly within Indigenous territories in the Brazilian Amazon. His research lies at the interface between biogeochemistry and soil science, with emphasis on the dynamics and speciation of potentially toxic elements in tropical soils and sediments. His work focuses on fundamental processes controlling contaminant mobility, stability, and toxicity, including organomineral and organometallic interactions, soil-solution dynamics, carbon stabilization, and microbial responses in impacted systems. He has solid experience in advanced characterization techniques, including spectroscopy (XAS, XPS, FTIR, ToF-SIMS), X-ray diffraction (XRD and micro-XRD), STXM-NEXAFS, and micro-XRF, as well as in situ synchrotron experiments coupled with micro-GC and mass spectrometry to investigate mineral transformations and gas fluxes under controlled conditions. His current research integrates experimental approaches and the development of innovative materials for soil remediation, focusing on environments impacted by gold mining across the Amazon, Pantanal, Cerrado, and Atlantic Forest biomes, contributing to nature-based solutions for mitigating environmental risks and promoting sustainability.
