Leonardo de Oliveira Fontes

Professor at the Department of Sociology at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and researcher at the Center for Urban Ethnography at the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (Cebrap). He held a postdoctoral degree at Cebrap and was a Visiting Fellow at the Latin America and Caribbean Center at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE-LACC), with a FAPESP scholarship. Graduated in International Relations from the University of São Paulo (2008), Master in Sociology from the University of São Paulo (2012) and PhD in Sociology from the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP/UERJ), with a sandwich period at the University of Texas in Austin (CAPES scholarship holder). He received an honorable mention in the 2019 CAPES Thesis Award for his thesis "The right to the periphery: experiences of social mobility and the struggle for citizenship among peripheral workers", in the area of Sociology. He has experience in the area of Sociology, with an emphasis on Urban Sociology, working mainly on the following themes: urban peripheries, work, citizenship, and social movements.
