Sandra Scivoletto

Graduated in Medicine (1991) and obtained her PhD in Psychiatry (1997) from the Medical School of São Paulo University (FMUSP) with the study about adolescent drug users and predictive factors of treatment prognosis. She has the specialist degree in Psychiatry by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry (1997) and certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the same Association (1998). In 1993, she deployed the outpatient clinic for treatment of adolescent drug users on Institute of Psychiatry from Hospital das Clínicas (IPq-HC) from FMUSP, which was the first outpatient treatment specific for adolescent drug users in Brazil, which she has been coordinating until now. From 2001 to 2006, she was the coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Group of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs -IPq-HC FMUSP, when she also developed and implemented programs to prevent drug use in public and private schools; she also developed activities in research, teaching and patient care in this area. In 2005, she started working with children and adolescents, victims of abuses and neglect; since 2007 she has coordinated the Equilibrium Program, an innovative project that is the result of a partnership between the Department and the Institute of Psychiatry of FMUSP and São Paulo City Hall. The program had progressively moved from a professional clinic setting to a community-based but protected activity center with recreational and multi-professional services focused on reintegration of maltreated children and adolescents; the activities have an emphasis on linkage with social service agencies, education and children protection system, in an academic research context. In 2013, the Equilibrium Program was selected to integrate the website developed by the World Mental Health Center, hosted by the London School of Public Health, in partnership with WHO - The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) Report, to disseminate innovative programs in the area of Mental Health in the world. In 2014, she received the Health Award in the category of Mental and Emotional Health of Saúde magazine and Editora Abril, receiving the award for the results achieved by the Equilibrium Program in the reintegration of maltrated children living under social risk and vulnerability.In 2008, she was approved in the contest for Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry at the FMUSP. Currently, she is the head of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Service (SEPIA) and Coordinator of the Residence Training-program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the IPq-HC-FMUSP. She teaches Child and Adolescent Psychiatry subjects to medical students at the FMUSP and she is the professor responsible for Child Psychiatry Students Group, formed by students of FMUSP. She is also professor and mentoring for MD and PhD students at the Department of Experimental Physiopathology a t the FMUSP. Her line of research is in the area of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with emphasis on addiction, child maltreatment, post-traumatic stress disorder, changes in child development caused by maltreatment, adolescents, depression, conduct disorder and comorbidities.
