Dr. Renato Sousa Lima is a researcher at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (LNNano/CNPEM), Coordinator of the Diagnostic Subprogram of the CNPEM Health Graduate Program, and Visiting Professor in the following Graduate Programs: IQ/UNICAMP, IQSC/USP, and NMA/UFABC. He holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Chemistry from UFPB (2003-2008), a master's degree (2008-2010) and a doctorate (2010-2013) in Sciences from IQSC/USP, and postdoctoral studies at UNICAMP (2014-2015) and Clemson University/USA (2023-2024). Throughout his graduate studies, he worked in the area of #8203;#8203;Chemistry, with an emphasis on electrochemistry, micro/nanofabrication, and microfluidics for chemical analysis. He leads a research group that addresses the problem of developing chemical sensors capable of performing rapid and accurate routine analyses in the environmental and health fields. To this end, the group works in the following areas: (i) fabrication of devices using top-down micro/nanofabrication techniques and alternative methods, (ii) use of bottom-up molecular engineering methods for the integrated production of nanostructured electrodes, and (iii) fundamental understanding at the nanoscale with a view to generating programmable platforms. Furthermore, microfluidics and machine learning methods are used as tools to increase the performance of the devices. The researcher has supervised 4 master's theses and 3 doctoral dissertations, is a reviewer for several journals, and is the author of more than 60 scientific articles in journals with rigorous editorial policies, such as Analytical Chemistry, ACS Sensors, ACS Applied Materials Interfaces, ACS Nano, and Advanced Healthcare Materials.
