Daphne Silva Pino

Daphne Pino is a Geologist (University of Sao Paulo, USP, Brazil - 2009), with M.Sc. in Structural Hydrogeology (Université du Québec à Chicoutimi - UQAC, Canada - 2012), and a Ph.D. in Mineral Resources and Hydrogeology (USP - 2019). She did a research intership during her Ph.D. with the Morwik G360 Institute at the University of Guelph, Canada. She works with Environmental Management of contaminated sites, focusing on structural and hydraulic characterization of fractured aquifers. Daphne has also worked as a Structural Geologist for the Program of Knowledge Acquisition on Groundwater (Programme d'Acquisition des Connaissances sur les Eaux Souterraines, PACES), funded by the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment, Wildlife and Parks of Quebec (MDDEFP), in the divisions of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and Monterégie, Canada. She was a post-doctoral research assistant (PDRA) at the Geosciences Institute (IGc-USP, Brazil), in partnership with Teesside University (UK) and the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM). She was a researcher at the X-ray Micro and Nanotomography beamline (MOGNO) at LNLS-CNPEM, working on the characterization of porous media in a project in partnership with Petrobras (2022-2024). She worked as a professor in the Hydrogeology subject in the MBA course in Contaminated Areas Management, Sustainable Urban Development and Brownfields Revitalization at the Polytechnic School (Poli-USP) (2020-2023). She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at USP (2025-present), a volunteer translator for the Hydrogeology Journal (2018-present) and an associate editor at Revista Águas Subterrâneas (2025-atual).
