Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP). Campus Diadema. Instituto de Ciências Ambientais, Químicas e Farmacêuticas (ICAQF)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

She is a professor at Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp), Institute of environmental, chemical and pharmaceutical sciences, Department of Biological Sciences. Graduated in Biological Sciences by CES/JF, M.Sc. and PhD. in Physiology by the University of Sao Paulo, with internship period in the University of Virginia. She worked in Dr. Castrucci?s lab for 12 years, where she studied the circadian clock and opsinas in non-mammalian and mammalian vertebrate models. She elucidated how light and temperature is translated as a synchronizer factor in peripheral tissues and which triggered signaling pathways ultimately lead to clock gene modulation. During her post-doctoral position she demonstrated for the first time, a link between TRP channels and clock genes in the modulation of mammalian peripheral tissues related with energy metabolism. She holds a young research investigator position in Dr. Cipolla-Neto?s lab from 2019 to 2022. Currently she is focusing her investigation on the effects of chronodisruption in the central nervous systems and metabolic tissues, using animals that spontaneously develop glaucoma. Her main question is related to what are the short and long-term consequences of the lack of light exposure on health. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
