Tulio Heleno de Aguiar Bucchioni

Tulio Bucchioni holds a BA in Social Communication and a MA in Social Anthropology, both from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. His research interests focus on gender and sexuality, activisms, utopia and utopian imaginaries, intersectionality, feminist and queer theory, queer of color critique and queer Marxism, art and representation. As a current PhD candidate at LAIC, he is interested in studying LGBTQIA+ activisms and forms of queer political imagination in the twentieth and twenty-first century Cuba and Brazil and its relationship with the construction of collective intersectional utopias. During his academic training, he studied in the University Paris-Sorbonne and in his MA, which was fully funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation, he received an additional scholarship to spend one term researching at the Latin American Institute of the Free University of Berlin (LAI/FU). After he completed his MA, he was admitted as a member of the first Research Program of the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (Masp). Additionally, he also worked as a popular educator and researcher on HIV/Aids prevention projects focused on young gay black men from the city of São Paulo that were executed by the Brazilian CSO Viração in partnership with Unicef and the HIV/Aids Program of the city of São Paulo.
