Bachelor in Physical Education from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) and Ph.D. in Human Physiology from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (USP). He held a postdoctoral internship at the Department of Psychobiology at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). He is currently a professor at the Department of Biosciences at UNIFESP, where he teaches the disciplines of (1) Exercise Physiology, (2) Exercise Biochemistry, and (3) Exercise Immunology. His studies highlight the understanding of exercise immunology and immunometabolism. For this, his research focuses on the effects of physical exercise and chronic diseases such as obesity on the function and metabolism of monocytes, macrophages, and lymphocytes. Finally, his research group expanded the investigations to understand the importance of the immune system's communication with other physiological systems, such as skeletal muscle, brain, and intestine. He is a member of the International Society for Exercise Immunology, the Brazilian College of Sports Sciences, and the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science. For eight years, he has been a productivity fellow of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
