Marcello Nitz da Costa

I have been the Rector of Centro Universitário do Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia since October 2024. I graduated in Food Engineering from Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia in 1995 and earned a Masters degree in Food Engineering in 1999, followed by a PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2006, both from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). I am a specialist in University Management from Centro Universitário São Camilo. From 2009 to 2012, I coordinated the Food Engineering and Chemical Engineering programs at Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia. From July 2012 to September 2024, I served as Director of Escola de Engenharia Mauá and, simultaneously, as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs from 2014 to 2024. I contributed to the drafting of the curricular guidelines for engineering programs, published in 2019, and I am a member of an INEP committee responsible for revising the on-site evaluation instruments for undergraduate courses. I have been a member of the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) since 2019 and served on its executive committee from 2022 to 2024. I am part of the Research Group "Sustainable Development and Innovative Technologies in Food Engineering," with publications in the areas of fluid dynamics, drying, agglomeration, and particle coating in fluidized beds. In the business sector, I was Managing Partner at Zelus, a company focused on product and process development for the pharmaceutical industry, and partner at Algo a Mais Indústria de Produtos Alimentícios, specializing in sports nutrition products. In May 2024, I was honored at the 27th edition of the CREA-SP Award, receiving recognition in the "Faculty" category for my efforts and contributions to education.
