She holds a degree in Psychology from the University of São Paulo, earned in 1975. She obtained her masters degree in Experimental Psychology from the same university in 1979 and completed her PhD in Experimental Psychology in 1984. She is currently a full professor at the University of São Paulo. From 2001 to 2003, she served as a member of the Psychology Advisory Committee at CNPq and was the committee chair from 2003 to 2004. At CAPES, she was part of the Committee for the Evaluation of Graduate Programs in Psychology during the years 2000-2001 and 2005-2006. Her administrative roles include being the Department Head from 2000 to 2004 and again from 2012 to 2016, Chair of the Graduate Studies Committee at the USP Institute of Psychology from 2003 to 2005, Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Experimental Psychology (which received a rating of 7 by CAPES) from 1996 to 2005, and Director of the USP Institute of Psychology from 2008 to 2012. Additionally, she served as the Vice President for Research at USP from 2018 to 2019. She has extensive experience in coordinating research projects, including the FAPESP Thematic Project No. 06/59192, PROCAD/CAPES No. 0067/05-9, and the CEPID-PITE Research Center on Well-Being and Human Behavior (FAPESP 2014/502825). In 2016, she established the USP Twin Panel at the USP Institute of Psychology. Currently, she coordinates the FAPESP Thematic Project titled "USP Twin Panel: Research on the Behavior, Health, and Well-Being of Twins" (Process 2022/02107-6), which is planned to run from August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2028. She also coordinates the Research Support Center on the Expression of Emotions in Humans and Animals and has experience studying behavior from a psychoethological perspective.
