Birthplace: Brazil

PhD in Tropical Medicine (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine) with over a decade of experience in clinical research, biotechnology, and science communication. Specializing in human immunity and infectious diseases, she has conducted innovative clinical studies on pneumococcal colonization and influenza vaccination, funded by the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation and CAPES. These studies led to high-impact publications in journals such as Nature Immunology, Vaccine, JCI Insight, and AJRCCM. During her Master's in Biotechnology (UFSCar/Embrapa), she developed AgNano, a pioneering software for assessing the impacts of nanotechnology in agriculture on health, the environment, and society, with support from FAPESP. Since 2020, she has worked in science journalism, translating complex scientific knowledge for non-specialized audiences, particularly vulnerable populations in Brazil. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she coordinated a multidisciplinary team within the Ação COVID-19 collective, which investigated how social inequality affected the pandemic in Brazil and communicated scientific findings to both the public and policymakers. Additionally, she has provided science communication consulting for the Laboratory of Pulmonary Investigation (UFRJ) and collaborated with the scientific translation company EasyTelling.
