Graduated in Geography (degree and bachelor's degree) (1988), master's degree in Geography (1994) and doctorate in Geography (1999) from the University of São Paulo - USP. Post doctorate by the Institute for the Study of Latin American and Caribbean - University of South Florida (2008) Full Professor at UNESP (2013). Professor of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Geography at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), Presidente Prudente campus. Professor of the Post - Graduate Program in Territorial Development in Latin America and the Caribbean - TERRITORIAL - the Institute for Public Policy and International Relations - IPPRI / UNESP, São Paulo campus. He was a visiting professor at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Ecuador), National University of Cordoba, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Universidad Nacional de Santiago del Estero (Argentina), University of La República (Uruguay), Academy of Christian Humanism University (Chile), Universidad de Caldas (Colombia) Stanford University (USA), International Institute of Social Studies (HOL), School of Geography and Planning - Cardiff University, and University of Oregon (USA). Coordinator of the UNESCO Chair oo the Territorial Development and Education of the Countryside, which presides over the field Voices collection and the collection Peasants Studies and Agrarian Change, published by Editora Unesp. Referee of the National Scientific and Technological Development Council (CNPq), the Foundation of São Paulo (FAPESP), Higher Education Personnel Improvement Coordination (Capes), SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online and the following journals: Human Geography (USA) Journal of Peasants Studies (Holanda),Terra Livre abda NERA Journals (Brazil) Cómo pensar la Geografia (Mexico). Researcher at the Center for Studies, Research and Agrarian Reform Project (Nera). Member of the National Pedagogic Council of the National Education in Agrarian Reform Program (Pronera) at the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (INCRA). Author of "The formation of the MST in Brazil" and co-authored with João Pedro Stedile of "Brava Gente". It has experience in the field of Geography, with emphasis on territorial development in Latin America and the Caribbean, researching the following topics: theories of territories, paradigms of the agrarian question and the agrarian capitalism, agrarian reform, territorial development, Landless Workers' Movement (MST) and Via Campesina.
