Oto Araújo Vale graduated in Language Sciences from Université de Paris VIII (1989), holds a master's degree (DEA) in Language Sciences from Université de Paris VIII (1990), and a Ph.D. in Linguistics and Portuguese Language from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2002). He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Algarve in the Erasmus Mundus program of the European Community (2008) and a visiting researcher at Université Catholique de Louvain (2014/2015). He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Letters at the Federal University of São Carlos, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses. He has experience in the field of Linguistics, with an emphasis on Computational Linguistics, focusing mainly on the following topics: fixed expressions, lexicon-grammar, electronic dictionaries, and corpus linguistics.
