Physiotherapist graduated in the State University of Londrina, Brazil, MSc in Clinical Medicine from State University of São Paulo - Júlio de Mesquita Filho, Botucatu, Brazil (2002) and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Leuven, Belgium (2005). Main research fields are Respiratory Physiotherapy and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, mainly in the following topics: COPD, physical activity in daily life, sedentarism, exercise tests and activity monitoring. Has been the head of the Assembly of physiotherapists of the European Respiratory Society from 2013 to 2015. Has held the position of Director of Research and Head of the International Relations Office of the State University of Londrina, Brazil and coordinates the Laboratory of Research in Respiratory Physiotherapy in that institution. Promotes MSc and PhD students in two post-graduation programs. Holds a productivity grant (1C) from the Brazilian Federal Government (CNPq). He was one of the editors-in-chief of the scientific journals Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, Critical Care and Rehabilitation (CPCR) and ASSOBRAFIR Ciência, and is a member of the editorial board of the journals Physiotherapy, Chronic Respiratory Disease and Pulmonology, as well as reviewer of various international journals.
