Romero Tori is an engineer, PhD and associate professor at University of São Paulo (USP). He is currently Academic Dean at UNIESP and Associate Professor Level 3 at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, where he coordinates the CNPq-registered research group "Interlab - Laboratory of Interactive Technologies" and develops research on virtual and augmented reality applied to education and health. He is a CNPq productivity scholarship holder in Technological Development and Innovative Extension, in Educational Technologies. He is a permanent member of the faculty of the Postgraduate Program in Design at FAU/USP. He is a Professor of the Distance Learning Postgraduate Course "Computing Applied to Education", at ICMC USP. He is a Member of the Board of Bett Educar (since 2019). He was President of the Scientific Council of Abed (Brazilian Distance Education Association) from 2022 to 2024. At Senac University Center he was: institutional coordinator of the scientific, technological, artistic and innovation initiation program (2007 to 2016), Coordinator of Research in Communication, Arts and Technology (2003 to 2016), Editor of the Scientific Journal Iniciação (2012 to 2017), member of the group for the creation and implementation of the Postgraduate Program in Design (2004 to 2006) and member of several course coordination committees (undergraduate and postgraduate). He was an evaluator of undergraduate courses for Inep/Ministry of Education(MEC). He participated in the creation and implementation of the undergraduate course in Information Systems at Faculdade Rio Branco. He was coordinator of the Computer Science course at Universidade Paulista (1995 to 1997). He participated as a consultant in the creation, restructuring and/or implementation of courses in the area of #8203;#8203;computing (Unisanta, Faculdade Sumaré and Faculdade Rio Branco). He was general coordinator of the Exact Sciences area at Universidade Bandeirante (1998-1999). He was president of the Special Commission on Virtual Reality of the Brazilian Computer Society - SBC (2007-2008). He was a member of the Deliberative Council of the Escola do Futuro da USP (1993 to 2014). He has participated in the organization of several scientific events, having been, among others, general chair of SVR 2004 (Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality), Program Chair of SVR 2007 and SBGames 2005, General Vice-chair of SVR 2008, and President of the Scientific Committee of RD Design 2008, co-chair of CIDI/INFODESIGN/CONGIC 2009 and chair of WEPG/SIBGRAPI 2009. He coordinated the Pre-Symposia of SVR 2017 and SVR 2018. He was a member of the Organizing Committees of, among others, the scientific congresses: SVR 2015, SVR 2016, SVR 2017 and SVR2018, CIET/Enpet 2022 and CIAED 2023. He was President of the Technical-Scientific Committee of CIAED. 20223 and 2024. He is the author, among other works, of the book "Educação Sem Distância" (Distanceless Education). He has participated in and/or coordinated several research projects funded by national and international agencies, such as Fapesp, CNPq and Erasmus Mundus. He was a member of committees of several journals and scientific events. He has been Chair for Latin America of the Immersive Learning Research Network (ILRN), since 2020. He has been a collaborator and/or consultant in research and innovation in immersive technologies applied to education with startups. He is a reviewer for Fapesp, CNPq, Finep and several other research funding agencies. He is a reviewer for international journals, such as "BioMed Research", "IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies", "Multimedia Tools Applications", "Computer in Human Behaviour", among others. His current areas of interest are: distance education, immersive technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, immersive videos and metaverses), especially in their applications in education and health; distance education, technologies in education and interaction design (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
