Abstract

Laetiporus squalidus is described as a new species, distinguished by the effused-reflexed basidioma with numerous small and broadly attached pilei, cream to pale brown upper surface, when fresh, becoming light ochraceous after dry and ellipsoid to broadly ellipsoid basidiospores. Phylogenetic analyses of ITS and nLSU regions corroborate the position and identity of the species. Furthermore, L. gilbertsonii, a Pan-American species, is recorded for the first time to Brazil and characterized with morphological and molecular analyses. (AU)
