Abstract

Among the members of fungi in forest systems, Mycenaceae (Agaricales, Basidiomycota) groups approximately 900 species of mushrooms, which are predominantly saprophytic and worldwide distributed. Currently, 16 genera are treated in Mycenaceae, although only six of them have been recognized on a molecular phylogenetic basis. Phylogenetic studies recognized Mycenacea as a monophyletic group and revealed the polyphyletic status of the genera Mycena and Panellus. However, the phylogenetic relationships of family entities have not been well-elucidated, and some gaps related to the delimitation of genera, subgenera, sections and subsections; as well as species position need to be further investigated. The Brazilian Atlantic Forest harbors a high diversity belonging to Mycenaceae, with the occurrence of approximately 90 species. Even so, it is estimated that many other species can be described. Among the described and recorded species of Mycenaceae from the Atlantic Forest, only five have got molecular data available. Thus, this project aims to record and characterize the diversity of Mycenaceae representatives occurring in the Atlantic Forest and re-evaluate their relationships based on taxonomy and molecular phylogenetic systematics. Therefore, macro and-microscopic characteristics of new collections and exsiccatae of Mycenaceae representatives available in herbaria will be analyzed. The phylogenetic relationships of Mycenaceae taxa will be evaluated based on phylogenetic reconstruction with data available in sequence database and new ones to be generated. It is intended to expand the record of Mycenaceae species from Brazil, with the possibility of describe new taxa and elucidate the phylogenetic relationships of Mycenaceae.
