Abstract

La1-xSr xCr0.5Mn0.5O3 perovskites have been pointed out as potential ceramic anode materials for solid oxide fuel cell. The use of a ceramic anode is desirable in order to overcome both the coke formation on the Ni surface and the redox cycling instability of the stabilized-zirconia/Ni cermets, which is the most used anode in solid oxide fuel cells. In the present study, it is reported the results of the synthesis by the polymeric precursor technique and the characterization of compounds with x = 0.5, stoichiometric and with 5% A-site cationic deficiency La1-xSr xCr0.5Mn0.5O3 and (La1-xSr x)0.95Cr0.5Mn0.5O3, respectively. The results reveal that such a ceramic has high electrical conductivity values and low reactivity with zirconia based electrolytes. (AU)
