Abstract

The advent of new bandwidth demanding applications has motivated new optical network technologies to support next-generation Internet applications. Considering the ever growing volume of data that can be transported by optical networks, the resilience of these networks is of paramount importance to the correct operations of the network. This paper proposes an algorithm for Adaptive modulation, P-cycle Path, Routing, and spectrum OVErlap (APPROVE) to increase the efficiency in spectrum utilization protected SDM-EONs. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is highly-efficient in establishing resilient connections compared to other existing algorithms. (AU)
