Abstract

Performances of microwave photonics devices are evaluated using offline techniques following the appropriate experiments. First, the harmonic distortion and the half-wave voltage of an electro-optical modulator are obtained for the entire bandwidth using opposite phase sinusoidal signals. Then, phase noise, electromagnetic emission behavior, and linewidth of several semiconductor lasers are characterized using heterodyne reception. Both offline analyses employ fast digital signal acquisition and processing. (AU)
