Abstract

This paper deals with the filtering problem for continuous-time switched affine systems. More specifically, a full-order switched dynamical filter is jointly designed along with an output-dependent switching function, assuring a minimum H-2 or H-infinity guaranteed cost for the estimation error. It is proved that the optimal guaranteed cost filter presents an observer-based structure and can be designed independently of the switching function. The design conditions are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities, which can be solved without difficulty by means of readily available tools. One academic example and a practical application consisting in a flyback DC-DC power converter illustrate the theory.
