Abstract

ABSTRACT Objective: Damian and Moro-Cabero (2020) developed a knowledge management model focused on organizational memory, whose applicability was verified in Spanish organizations. To increase the effectiveness and scope of the model proposed by the authors, the objective of this work is to verify the applicability of this model in Brazilian organizations. Methods: a bibliographic survey was carried out on the concepts worked on, in addition to interviews with managers of service organizations in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. The research is qualitative in nature, characterized as descriptive and exploratory, whose research universe is companies in the services sector in Ribeirão Preto. The qualitative technique of content analysis was used as a research methodology. Results: It was found that knowledge management was in its initial phase in the organizations surveyed, with many aspects that needed to be worked on, such as leadership and knowledge disposal. Given the organizational contexts analyzed, the use of a knowledge management implementation model is recommended. Conclusions: Damian and Moro-Cabero's (2020) knowledge management model is not only applicable to the context of the Brazilian organizations researched, but it is very necessary and has a lot of potential to contribute to achieving organizational objectives. The importance of analysis and situational adaptation of the critical success factors of knowledge management present in the analyzed model is reinforced, as well as the development of organizational memory.
