Abstract

The genus Diplosmittia Saether, 1981 is reviewed and four new Neotropical species are described and illustrated as males: D. plaumanni from Brazil and Venezuela, D. boraceia from Brazil, and D. aragua and D. cerayma from Venezuela. In addition, D. recisus is redescribed and recorded for the first time from Venezuela and D. harrisoni is recorded from Mexico, Venezuela, and Costa Rica. A cladistic analysis is performed corroborating the monophyly of the genus. A key to the males of Diplosmittia is provided. (AU)
