Abstract

High-resolution electron backscatter diffraction was used to characterize a Nb(3)Sn-based superconducting multifilamentary wire produced by the bronze method. The niobium core has a clear <1 1 0> fiber texture in the wire axis direction. The Nb(3)Sn crystals also show a slight preference for the <1 1 0> direction parallel to the wire axis. The misorientation angle distribution of the Nb(3)Sn crystals are similar to the Mackenzie distribution for a randomly oriented set of crystals with cubic crystal symmetry.
