Abstract

This paper describes the stages of a process to develop a multimedia system to evaluate children social. It is firstly presented, in a summarized way, the main concerns leading the decision to invest in this instrument and the conceptual structure guiding its elaboration. It is then described, step-by-step, the process to create the initial materials as far as their conception as an evaluation system, which included: a) a computerized version (for self-evaluation); b) a printed version (self-evaluation and teacher evaluation); c) a software to process and to integrate the results. The instrument has 21 social skills items, each one composed by a situation and three reaction alternatives. The child is required to evaluate the frequency he/she displays each reaction, the difficult to do so and the appropriateness of each one. The teacher evaluates the child reactions (freqüency) and the reactions content (appropriateness and importance). At the end, new stages to improve the system are pointed out. (AU)
