The Newton Fund is a British initiative aimed at promoting the social and economic development of partner countries through research, science and technology. The investments have a counterpart of the participating countries in LATAM (Argentina, Brazil, Chile or Peru), and FAPESP is one of Newton Fund's partners in Brazil. The opportunity is part of the Natural Environment Research Council - NERC's "Latin American Biodiversity Program". It aims to provide trans-regional level understanding of the role of biodiversity and ecosystem functioning and the services they provide in managing environments for sustainable development.
