From case studies in diverse contexts regarding the national states - Kenya, Mozambique, Angola, Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Japan - and the empirical cuts observed, a transversal approach is intended on the question of difference which considers at the same time questions regarding the ways difference is built and brought together in order to make up recognized collectives, discussions regarding the model of nation to be instituted, processes of differentiation that is, processes of discourse articulation and practices that inscribe experiences, social relations, subject position - and their collectives -, subjectivity and identity, enabling specific ways of formation and manifestation of differences in each context and processes of identity production as resulting of relations established in specific political, social and historical contexts. In other words this project proposes to think about how differentiation processes, political representations of the difference and demand for knowledge are articulated and in them, the constitution of differences within different national contexts and their particular historical processes marked by conflicts.
