Behavior of different rehabilitations with ceramic materials under mechanical fatigue

Abstract

Current dentistry advances in search of increasingly conservative and aesthetic rehabilitations in order to recover the function of a compromised or absent dental element with quality and long-term resistance. Although the literature is vast when the performance of prosthetic restorative materials, relevant scientific questions arise about the several recently available materials. Some of these materials, such as zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramics (ZLS - Vita Suprinity, Vita Zahnfabrik), hybrid ceramic with porcelain and polymer (PIC - VITA Enamic, Vita Zahnfabrik) and high translucency zirconia (YZHT - VITA YZHT, Vita Zahnfabrik), may have improved performance with techniques that have not yet been analyzed. Thus, the present study aims to (1) to investigate the influence of the thickness of monolithic ceramic crowns on biomechanical behavior, fatigue survival and translucency; (2) analyze the biomechanical behavior under fatigue of implant supported crowns made with new laboratory techniques and, (3) to study the influence of different types of cores on the survival of central incisors restored with total ceramic crowns. The data will be analyzed statistically and discussed against the relevant literature. (AU)
