Abstract

The use of high-strength zirconium oxide ceramics by means of CAD-CAM has been the focus for both conventional and restorative approaches to manufacture components for implanted devices. The aim of this study is to evaluate the bond strength of high-strength zirconium oxide ceramics after different surface treatments and to evaluate the mechanical behavior of ceramic abutments and crowns associated with these treatments. In the first phase 95 zirconia discs will be made through NEOSHAPE system divided into five groups (n = 19), according to surface treatment: G1 (control group without any treatment), G2 (sandblasting with Al2O3 particles before sintering), G3 (sandblasting with Al2O3 particles after sintering), G4 (silanization with Siloc system before sintering) and G5 (silanization with Siloc system after sintering). Three samples of each group will be prepared for microstructural analysis by SEM. Ten samples of each group will be subjected to testing micro shear and the other remaining six will have their interface examined by SEM. In the second stage, 70 hexagonal abutments will also be made by NEOSHAPE system and associated with zirconia crowns in which the infrastructure will be also obtained through the NEOSHAPE system. The joint implant-abutment-crown will also be divided into five groups (n = 14) and underwent the same treatments as previously described. Will still be performed measurements to verify the adaptation of crowns on the abutments and mechanical fatigue test set. (AU)
