Abstract

The universal testing machine allows to perform mechanical tests on materials, such as the determination of their compressive strength. The compressive strength of iron ore pellets is a necessary feature to ensure their use in transportation processes and in the industrial steelmaking process. In the process of producing iron ore pellets, which will be carried out at IPT facilities under the PDIP project, the compressive strength will be determined along some phases of the pellets lifecycle. The first phase of this characterization must be performed immediately after the pellet is balled, so that it does not affect its resistance due to the loss of moisture. The other phases represent the dried pellet and the fired pellet, which is the final product. (AU)
