Abstract

Long fiber reinforced thermoplastic (LFRT) is classified as a lightweight material, with a wide range of applications in many different commercial areas, such as, aerospace, automobile, construction, naval, agribusiness and electrical power transmission. Besides its mechanical properties versus its density, the advantages of LFRT as structural materials include low cost process, manufacturability of complex designs by injection mold and recyclability. Our last project with the same title showed that the die developed was efficient in wetting all the fiber with resin for composites with more than 40% of fiber concentration. Besides that, the companies that have been interviewed through 4th entrepreneurial program, on July to September 2017, revealed that these clients has great interest in those kinds of solutions. Actually, HYCO has its own proprietary technology for composites thermoplastics and it means that HYCO will use it with a big advantage to support clients with standards and tailor made products. The goals for this project are to build a new plant for high production composites, as well as for development of new compositions and new tools and increase the production rate of composites with the knowledge that was developed in the first PIPE Phase. It means that HYCO will be able to supply the clients with samples, small volume orders and technical data sheet for each product. (AU)
