use of technical reserve for research institutional infrastructure - 2016/11309-0

Abstract

The mission of the Laboratory of Metallurgical Processes (LPM) of the Center for Metallurgical and Materials Technologies (CTMM) of the Technological Research Institute of the State of São Paulo (IPT) is to provide technological solutions applicable to industrial processes and products in the fields of metallurgy and materials. The LPM is distributed across five large 80 years old buildings in the IPT campus in São Paulo, in Cidade Universitária. These buildings have undergone minor renovations over the years. However, the natural wear and tear of the infrastructure and the dynamics inherent to the development of research projects require actions aimed at maintaining and improving the quality and integrity of the structures. In this context, the Technical Reserve for Institutional Infrastructure meets the demands of two relevant necessities for maintenance of LPM's collective research infrastructure. One of them refers to hiring a service for the listing, identification and description of water supply and return pipes of the furnaces of Buildings 3, 4 and 5 and the modernization of the electrical and gas networks of the chemical laboratory in Building 2. The other necessity refers to the acquisition of desktop and laptop computers for operating different equipment, mainly in the instrumentation and control of the processes of materials synthesis carried out in the projects that take place on the LPM facilities.
