Arboviroses: dynamics and vector control

Abstract

Development of mathematical models to evaluate the use of mosquitoes infected by the bacterium Wolbachia to control arbovirus. An ordinary differential model with delay, and a celluar automa will be propose to answer different questions: (i) what is the influence of the temperature on the effectiveness of the technique? (ii) the competitive advantage given by cytoplasmic incompatibility to the infected mosquito makes this population less susceptible to invasion? (iii) what is the role of the latent eggs in maintaining the balance of coexistence between infected and uninfected mosquito populations? (AU)
