Abstract

The project will develop an integrated system for measuring and predicting the behavior of moored ships exposed to wave action or located in high traffic density ports. The long waves induce dynamic motions in the ships, providing dynamic loads beyond the mooring lines and fenders design capacity, which can damage these equipments, as pier/dolphin structure. The passing ship also provides dynamic loads in the mooring equipments by changing the pressure field around the moored vessel. The consequences of these effects can be serious, for instance, damage the terminal or the cables rupture, which may injury the crew on the deck of the ship or the mooring team in the pier. Moreover, these dynamic loads may break the hose in crude oil and gas terminals, spilling nocive substances to the human health or environment pollution. (AU)
