Abstract

This research aims to identify how the editorial project of two important educational publications was set up: the Journal Educação & Sociedade (E&S), created by the Educational and Society Studies Center (CEDES), and the Journal of ANDE (National Association of Education). The general objectives are: the investigation of their origins and the relationship between the journals and the educational debate between 1978 and 1995. The research begins with the first number of E&S and ends with the last number of Journal of ANDE. In this period, the country faced a dictatorship crisis and the rebuilding its democracy, and the critics against the educational policies and the proposals for the new Brazilian education were thriving. The intent is to build a chart that shows the appearance and the roles of these publications in the Brazilian educational debate, by studying their origins and intellectual references. Also, to investigate the educational writings of the main authors and the different positions in the educational debate will be mapped. The E&S and the Journal of ANDE are the core of the analysis. In order to study their editorial projects and the educational proposals that take place on the publications, the research is divided in two moments: I)The study of the periodicals, from their origins, context of creation and editorial's conception. The original plan of the E&S will be investigated through its comparison with the French journal Esprit, central reference of the former's original conception. The origins of the Journal of ANDE will be investigated in its relationship with the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, and the political project responsible for running the journal will be observed. The interviews with members from the editorial committee will be carried out in order to collect information about its birth. II) The analysis about the more frequent authors in the journals will highlight the relations between the ideas defended in these magazines and their respective writings, conceptions and interventions concerning possible ways towards the education and the public school in Brazil.
