Chemical Ecology of plant-microorganisms interactions studies for a sustainable agriculture

Abstract

It is proposed to study and characterize the interactions between endophytic and pathogenic microorganisms with their hosts (plants), using biological assays with the identification of allelochemicals by modern techniques of mass spectrometry. Developing more sustainable and efficient approaches in pest control from agricultural production, in order to improvement the agricultural management. For this, it is intended to build a platform with analytical and microbiological tools to characterize the phenomena involved in the interactions between plants and microorganisms (pathogens and non-pathogens). Performing the characterization of the molecules involved in these processes, via techniques such as molecular networking and imaging by mass spectrometry. In addition to the benefits for the agricultural industry, it is intended to create an environment where the members involved in those studies have a multidisciplinary view and learning of the problem, due to this project take place in an area of interface between chemistry and biology. Finally, consolidating the platform of analysis other studies of interest to the group and of other institutions can be easily developed, including in other areas of knowledge. (AU)
