Abstract

The objective of this project is to consolidate research projects together with researchers from Universidad San Martin de Porres - Peru with which the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto of USP has a signed agreement (USP process 16.1.012683.17.8 October 2016). This proposal is focused on the planning of a workshop in Lima-Peru involving researchers of Brazil and Peru where we will discuss strategies for the elaboration of future projects in the cardiovascular area and discuss the genotyping data performed in the FMRP-USP of Peruvians living in geographic regions with different altitudes. Furthermore, we are interested in elaborating a subproject that fits into the thematic project supported by FAPESP focused on aspects of clinical pharmacology of infectious diseases. In such project, there will be genotyping of genes linked to carrier proteins and cytochromes involved in the metabolism of drugs used in the treatment of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis C and AIDS. In this way, it seemed extremely opportunity to submit this SPRINT project in order to extend part of the subprojects to the peruvian population. In addition to generating data of scientific relevance, the approval of this project will allow to consolidate the established agreement between the two institutions through a symposium to be held in Peru where we could change experiences on academic studies and in postgraduate education, and elaborate future research projects, involving the understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases in high altitude regions.
