Abstract

This Projeto Regular is the continuation of three previous grants, which supported the construction and maintenance of SAM-FP and T80-South. SAM-FP installed inside the SOAR Adaptive Module (SAM), at the SOAR telescope, is functional and can be used to obtain data cubes with spectral resolution of 11200 and spatial resolution of 0.5 arcsec (with ground-layer adaptive optics correction). We want to complete studies that are underway using data already obtained in previous runs. SAM-FP will allow the study of the internal kinematics of galaxies and interstellar medium among other studies. T80-south, a robotic 80cm telescope, located at Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory, in Chile, has an optical camera with a wide field of view of 2 square degrees that is performing a survey of 9300 sq degrees of the sky: the Southern Local Universe Survey, S-PLUS. We want to maximize the use of the data collected by this survey by promoting a rich scientific environment at IAG and organizing events every semester. S-PLUS will enable, among other studies, photo-z, galaxy morphology and stellar population studies, detection of globular clusters and dwarf galaxies around the most nearby galaxies and search for groups and clusters, for galaxy evolution studies.
