Solutions of higher-order models for water waves

Abstract

This research project is prepared for the visit of Professor Jerry Bona from Univeristy of Illinois at Chigago. We are interested in continuing our earlier work that consists of studying the problems related to the existence and other properties of solutions of the higher order nonliner dispersive equations. Specially, we will focus our study on the recenly derived fifth order KdV-BBM type model (see the article of Bona, Carvajal, Panthee & Scialom in the bibliografy [4] of the project). This sort of problems are interesting not only from the mathematical point of view, because as described in the specialized literature, in general, they are models appearing to describe the physical phenomena (mainly the long wave models).During the visit, Professor Bona will give a lecture in Differential Equations Seminar at the Department of Mathematics and he will also offer two talks on "New trents on the reserch of dispesive equations".
